Work Life Balance is Also About Your Health

This post will be taking things to a more serious side, but trust me there is a reason for it.

So I obviously love my job more than the average person, I enjoy working hard, putting in overtime when needed, and being stretched just a little thinner than I should be.

However, just before the holidays things got real intense and I started feeling the heat. I had multiple challenging issues to take care of and the timeline was crunching since we were closing over the holidays.

I started having some health issues near the end of December, these were symptoms I had never experienced before and they worried me a bit. I eventually decided to go to the doctor’s just to make sure everything was ok. The doctor said that this was most likely due to stress. She asked me how things were generally in my life, and I let her know that work was particularly tough lately. I was frustrated that my body reacted this way. Why was I so sensitive? My mind said keep going, but my body was clearly saying STOP!

It is so important to listen to your body and respect the need to rest. It’s easy to get caught up in work, especially if you’re like me and you just want to keep pushing yourself. But sometimes you need to stop, give yourself a break, and refresh yourself to get back to it in full health and energy.
